Table Saw Accident

A client experienced a severe table saw accident at work that resulted in the traumatic amputation of four fingers. Surgeons were able to successfully reattach the index finger, but the remaining three fingers were too severely damaged to be reattached.

The client chose to keep the amputated fingers and requested that they be preserved as osteological specimens. Skeletal Salvation was commissioned to carefully skeletonize the fingers and create a custom display stand for long-term preservation.

The preparation process involved the careful removal of remaining tissue, controlled cleaning, and stabilization of the bones to ensure they would remain preserved over time. Once the skeletal elements were fully prepared, they were mounted in a custom display designed specifically for the client.

At the client’s request, their identity remains completely anonymous, and any graphic imagery related to the case has been blurred to respect viewer sensitivity.
This project highlights how skeletal conservation can serve personal, educational, and historical purposes, even in unusual circumstances. Our goal in situations like this is always to approach the work with professionalism, respect, and careful preservation methods.
